Ajuga - Burgundy Glow
The Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow’, Ajuga reptans, is a useful ground cover with short spikes of blue flowers. This Ajuga is one of the most popular, forming striking mounds of leaves dappled in green, pink and cream. During the wintertime, Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow’ develops rich bronze and burgundy tones. It is relatively carefree, however, it can be invasive. The flowers appear in late spring on 6” spikes with a plant spread of 12-18”. ‘Burgundy Glow’ should be planted 6-9” apart for a beautiful ground cover. Ajuga ‘Burgundy Glow’ will do best in a shaded area but will adapt to morning sun. (The foliage colors will be more vivid with morning sun. ) It prefers moist soil with a good drainage but will tolerate moderately dry areas. Do avoid soggy conditions. This Ajuga looks great in rock gardens, as a border plants, in mass plantings and is great for preventing erosion. Butterflies and hummingbirds are defiantly attracted to Ajuga, not to mention being deer resistant and a low allergen. Ajuga - Mahogany Bungleweed
The Ajuga , Mahagoney Bugleweed, Ajuga reptans Mahogany, is a robust Ajuga with a flat trailing habit and shiny, short-stemmed leaves. The lush, almost black-burgundy, glossy leafed foliage will turn to a deep rich Mahogany color and turns even darker and more lustrous during the winter months. Mahagany Bugleweeds display lovely bright blue flower panicles in the spring. This Ajuga does best in fertile, well-drained soil.
